Description

SED Systems specializes in developing complex hardware and software systems for cable, telecommunications, satellite communications, and defense applications. This position is based out of our newly-built research location in the North industrial area. SED Research is an offshoot of SED Systems, focusing on the fabrication and use of advanced composites for the satcom industry.

The Position:

The successful applicant will work in a team environment composed of technical and manufacturing personnel and be responsible for the following key activities:
   Inspection of components using a laser tracker and other methods for the purpose of quality control and tooling maintenance;
   Generate reports and presentations from inspections and data interpretation;
   Align fixturing/jigs, repair tooling, and assemble final products;
   Coordinate with the engineering team for both set up and quality control;
   Inspect incoming shipments containing tolerance-based parts from vendors;
   Evaluate new calibration methods and procedures;
   Use of statistics to analyze measurement standards and processes;
   Maintain equipment; and
   Assist in manufacturing when required.

This position will be of interest to candidates with:
   A Mechanical Engineering diploma or degree, or a combination of relevant education and experience;
   Experience with laser trackers (API, Faro, or Leica), CMM/inspection equipment,  or photogrammetry is an asset;
   Experience with BuildIt or other metrology software, and knowledge of GD&T concepts is an asset;
   Ability to work on projects where attention to detail is important;
   Experience in a related industry is considered an asset; and
   Willingness to travel.
