The HIV/HCV Outreach Nurse is an integral part of the FHQ Health Services Program and works under the supervision of the Women's Health Centre Manager and/or the Director of Client Services. The HIV/HCV outreach nurse uses his/her nursing and teaching skills to effectively assist clients and families to engage in addressing their own health status, recognizing that they are the expert, within a rights based philosophy of care. This position will focus efforts on harm reduction strategies, education and support, to assist clients to achieve and improve their quality of life and meet their individual goals.
Qualifications:
* Current registration with the SRNA.
* Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
* Knowledge of HIV, harm reduction and the needs of persons living with, at risk or affected by HIV or HCV is an asset.
* Self-starter and ability to work independently.
* Excellent oral and written communication.
* Awareness of cultural sensitivity and differences.
* Valid drivers license
* Demonstrated knowledge and respect of, and ability to work within First Nations Traditional and Spiritual Institutes.
Hours of Work: Full time hours with flexibility to work evenings and the occasional weekends.
