Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Spiritual Care the Spiritual Care Practitioner is accountable for the provision of spiritual and emotional care to all patients in conformance with their faith and their need for help in coping with the trauma of illness, pain, and death. The Spiritual Care Practitioner ensures compassionate ministry to the ill, the dying, and the troubled, regardless of race, creed, gender, or social status.
Required Qualifications

Post-graduate training at a University level in theology, pastoral counselling, or related field
Completion of a minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education, with CASC (Canadian Association for Spiritual Care) Specialist status preferred
Experience
Training within acute care setting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability work independently and be self-motivated The ability to remain calm when others are agitated or in crisis
Knowledge and understanding of philosophy and principles of holistic health care
A willingness and an ability to work as a member of the spiritual care team
Ability to listen carefully to what is being said and what is unspoken
Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of personnel, both internal and external to the organization
Maintains professional status through membership in professional organizations, literature reviews and/or specialized courses
Personal commitment to the charism, vision, mission and values of the Sisters of Charity of Montreal (Grey Nuns) and St. Pauls Hospital
Providing emotional support and spiritual guidance to patients, families and staffs and initiates referrals as required
