This job is dependant upon the village of Buena Vista receiving funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program
As a member of the Public Works team, duties and responsibilities of the Public Works Maintenance Worker will include but not be limited to:
Green space maintenance of Village owned properties, such as mowing grass, trimming weeds and pruning trees
Operating a variety of hand held and motorized equipment
Youth will have the opportunity to receive training in the operation of Bobcat equipment
Other maintenance activities painting of Village owned properties, as required
Taking water meter readings
Assisting in the recording of water chemistry data at Water Treatment Plant.
Equipment Maintenance Student will be learn how to carry out the following:
o Pre-operation inspections of motorized equipment,
o Basic maintenance such as: oil changes, removal and installation of fuel and oil filters, checking oil and tire pressure, for commonly used motorized vehicles and handheld power equipment
Youth will have the opportunity to receive Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification
