HOURS OF WORK: 57 hours (1 evening per week possibly weekends)

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Katherine Springford, Coordinator, Academics & Student Services
DUTIES:
This position is primarily responsible for providing assistance to help newcomers learn conversation, communication and soft skills. The Facilitator is responsible for facilitating listening and speaking activities that will support newcomers as they practice and enrich their English language skills, in a welcoming comfortable group environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The minimum educational qualification for this position is a two-year post-secondary diploma or equivalent in Human or Social Services or Behavioral Sciences field. This education would typically provide knowledge and understanding of group facilitation, adult education methodology and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
The minimum amount of practical, related experience required to perform the duties of this position is two years. This experience would typically provide skills required to facilitate skill-enhancing workshops, to effectively liase with a diverse group of participants and to develop needs based approaches to workshop delivery and enhancement.
English as an Additional Language (EAL) Instruction would be considered an asset.
Demonstrated experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
