CLSI is now accepting applications for a Laboratory Coordinator position as a member of our Science Division. Reporting to the Industrial Science Manager, the Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for the CLS Experimental Floor laboratories and work spaces, and ensures labs are maintained at a high standard to facilitate effective use of space, equipment and resources. The Laboratory Coordinator also ensures lab safety and compliance with CLSI policies, CLSI operating license, and all applicable local, provincial, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities:
Develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive inventory of offline synchrotron equipment and work spaces at the CLS, including sample preparation equipment, glove boxes, and analytical tools.
Manages inventory of supplies in all work spaces, including the labs, and ensures appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is maintained.
Ensures laboratory instruments and equipment are calibrated, operational, and that their use is logged appropriately.
Ensures that lab instruments and equipment are calibrated and operational, overseeing scheduling and performance of regular maintenance, in collaboration with CLS technical staff and/or external users or clients.
Ensures records of use are appropriately maintained.
Oversees scheduling the use of major (offline) equipment and user work spaces.
Develops Standard Operating Procedures and documentation, including training materials, pertaining to laboratory use.
Assists and/or trains users and staff to plan and perform experiments, in particular those that require extensive lab use or where significant work is required well ahead of beamtime.
Qualifications:
A relevant Undergraduate Degree is required
A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, including experience with radiological or biohazardous materials
A professional designation is not required but would be an asset
