The Engineering summer student will report directly to and support the Director of Engineering in meeting the obligations and responsibilities of the City of Weyburn. Assisting with the operation, maintenance and replacement of infrastructure and the management of assets.
Responsibilities
- Collect information and analyze data;
- Assist in investigations and studies;
- Assist in developing and recommending solutions for identified needs and problems;
- Assist in preparing and managing tenders;
- Conduct field inspections and provide supervision on construction contracts and internal crews;
- Identify needs and initiatives to keep the Citys assets sustainable and in good condition;
- Assist in the maintenance of the Citys built-in records;
- Assist in the maintenance of the Citys Asset Management System;
- Participate and assist in implementing and completing initiatives of the City;
- Act as a representative of the City with consultants, contractors, government agencies and outside agencies/groups; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Engineering, preferably Civil;
- Experience with CAD software and modelling systems;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office;
- Self-motivated, working well with others as well as individually; and
- Hold a valid Class 5 Drivers license.
Additional Information:
- Job Status: Full time (Seasonal)
- Term: Approx. 16 weeks. Starting in May 2019.
- Wage: Starting wage will commensurate with CUPE Local 90 agreement.
