JOB SUMMARY:
The Engineer, Engineering - Transmission Lines is accountable to research, develop and implement tasks, methodologies and practices for the corporation. As a member of SaskPowers management team, this position is responsible for assisting with and/or preparing technical studies, business cases, designs, specifications, tender / RFP evaluations, and equipment and construction drawings. This position will assist in preparation of project plans, costs, and schedules and provide contract management and project coordination services; ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Design new and / or upgrade foundations for various types of transmission line structures such as wood, steel mono-pole, steel lattice, etc. in the 72kV to 230kV voltage class and higher.
Provide technical support and assistance to Construction Team and Contactors during construction with respect to identification of type of foundation required for the installation of the structures.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering with specialization in Civil with 10 years of experience in foundation designs for various types of transmission line structures.
Professional Engineering Designation (PEng) or eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan
Advanced knowledge of various type of foundations used for transmission lines structures such as direct embedded, caissons, pedestal, spread, screw anchors, screw piles, etc., would be essential for the job.
Knowledge and experience in use of civil foundation design software such as L PILE, MFAD and PLS CAISSON.
Knowledge of transmission line design software such as PLS CADD, TOWER and POLE would be beneficial
Familiarity with applicable CSA and ASTM standards
