Description

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources Saskatchewan Geological Survey is seeking a self-motivated and committed individual to fill the role of Resident Geologist at the Saskatchewan Precambrian Geological Laboratory in La Ronge, SK.


Responsibilities include:
- managing the drill core library and sample collections in the La Ronge Precambrian Geological Laboratory
- supporting and tracking exploration, development and production of northern Saskatchewans mineral resources through client services, public relations, visits to mineral exploration sites
- community engagement and outreach, including provision of information on the geology and mineral resources of Saskatchewan and the mining cycle in general, to people of all ages in northern communities
- up to 50% of this position may be dedicated towards instruction of geoscience courses at local post-secondary educational institutions, up to the level of first year university undergraduate courses
- focused geoscience research projects

Success in this position will require:
- Masters of Science degree in Geology
registration (or eligible for registration) in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan
- In-depth knowledge of the Precambrian geology of Saskatchewan, mineral deposit geology and all aspects of the mining cycle
- a demonstrated track record of teaching including the ability to teach geoscience material, including field-based courses, at a minimum level of first year university undergraduate courses
- demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective and productive working relationships with client groups, including industry, First Nations and northern communities, other government personnel, and the public at large
- ability to gather, evaluate, and interpret geological data employing a variety of techniques and industry-specific software packages
- valid drivers licence
