Harvest Community Inc. as been providing work and training opportunities to adults who are moderately intellectual disabilities for over 40 years. We currently have an opening for a Disability Support Worker for our day program. This work is particularly suitable for those with a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and most importantly, with a vocation to help those with special needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To be a role model in the work place. A positive attitude is a must.
2. To support and work alongside Day Program Participants performing work activities in the day program and the farm site.
3. To support and assist in any programming as required in consultation with the Program Manager.
4. To communicate effectively with other staff.
Applicants considered for this position will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Education: Preference will be given to those individuals who have obtained some level of post-secondary education in disability support services.
* Experience: Experience working with individuals with cognitive disabilities is a must. Three to five years experience in production or similar environment, such as farming, would be a strong asset.
* Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada and must communicate/read/write fluently in English.
