Nicole Sawchuk Law Office is seeking an experienced permanent full-time Legal Assistant to join our talented and committed legal team. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated individual to assist with a busy family, civil litigation, wills and estates and municipal law office practice. The candidate will have strong organizational skills, a multi-tasking background, computer aptitude, excellent written and verbal communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a professional positive attitude with a genuine passion to go above and beyond.
Our office is a busy small family oriented law firm with a casual office setting consisting of a full time lawyer and two full time support staff. This position is currently a term position for 12 to 18 months, with the possibility of extending into a permanent position. Starting hours would be approximately 35 to 40 hours per week.
EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a recognized legal assistant program is preferred
Minimum 2 years of legal assistant/bookkeeping experience is preferred
Proficient knowledge working with computers including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access) as well as operating a telephone phone system, photocopier, fax machine and scanner
Strong knowledge of PCLAW accounting software including payroll and bank reconciliations
Ability to produce accurate documents and excellent proofreading skills (ability to check typed material for grammatical, typographical, spelling, word usage and format errors)
Fast, accurate keyboarding skills; minimum 60 wpm
Detail orientated and able to handle multiple tasks
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; work under pressure with tight deadlines with accuracy
