Our Saskatoon office is looking for a student currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program to join our team for a 4-month field summer student position starting in May 2019.
This position will involve a variety of field services related to municipal infrastructure asset management within 11 separate communities in west central Saskatchewan. The communities, all members of the WaterWolf District Planning Commission, are collecting asset data to support effective asset management planning and decision-making.
Duties will include:
Collaborate with municipal staff to locate all above ground municipal assets (manholes, valves, hydrants, culverts, sidewalks, buildings, roads, signs, etc.);
Use a hand-held GPS device to collect asset location information;
Assess, document and photograph the condition of assets; and,
Collaborate with Urban colleagues to update GIS dataset for each community.
While the project is managed out of our Saskatoon branch, the person in this role will be based out of their home location, in and around the communities in west central Saskatchewan.
The salary range for this position will be $16-18 per hour based on a 40-hour work week and dependant on the successful candidates skill and abilities. An allowance for mileage associated with work-related travel will also be included, over and above the hourly wage.
Our preferred candidate is currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program and:
Has strong computer skills;
Familiarity with GIS would be an asset;
Highly organized and detail oriented;
Live in a community within the WaterWolf District Planning Commission; and,
Possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License and a vehicle of your own.
