Description

The Autism Resource Centre has an exciting opportunity for those looking to work in a fun, educational summer camp environment. We are currently looking for Camp Directors for our Camp Connect run in partnership with the Globe Theater. This camp is for youth on the autism spectrum aged 13-18 and offers the opportunity to learn social skills, communication skills, life skills and Improv acting. We are looking for professional and enthusiastic staff to plan and run the camp for this summer season. These individuals will be in charge of creating and maintaining a safe, educational and fun providing memorable experiences for the youth in our camp.

Expectations:
Planning of summer camp, including social skills curriculum, daily activities and life skills programming within camp budget
Hiring and training camp staff
Work alongside ARC staff to ensure camp goals are being met
Applicant must be adaptable, organized and high energy to meet the needs of the camp and the campers
Facilitate positive programming for campers
Work as a mentor while building relationships
Help to encourage campers to practice the skills learned each day in the community with peers.
Ensure camper safety at all times
Collect information from caregivers regarding each campers interests and skill levels
Plan and implement staff meetings and evaluations
Communication with campers families as needed

Requirements:
Working towards or completion of a University/college education in a related field
Excellent understanding of autism and strategies to support individuals
Experience working with people who have autism or a cognitive disability
Experience with Improv acting is an asset
Must be energetic, adaptable and possess excellent communication skills that allow you to effectively work in a team or independently
A valid drivers license and vehicle are required
Criminal record check
