Description

Position Overview:  
Located in our Central Office in Regina, SK, the successful candidate will join SAMA's Information Services Branch as a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Developer in this full-time, temporary position.  The GIS Developer will support the development of systems technologies, GIS applications, GIS programming, mapping and databases.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Information Services, the GIS Developer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Creating and maintaining GIS systems, geospatial and attribute databases, and the application infrastructure to support user-developed GIS applications.
- Providing support in the design and development of specifications and geo-spatial analysis applications.
- Participating in projects and technical design meetings related to SAMA's GIS development.
- Working with end users to determine GIS application requirements.
- Developing test cases and end user documentation in order to support the application and provide relevant training.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- University Degree in an Information Technology (IT) field; or
- Post-secondary diploma in an IT field and 3-5 years of GIS programming experience;
- Proficient in the use of software development and database tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, SQL Server, Crystal Enterprise) in a Microsoft Windows environment;
- Proficient in the use of ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise software;
- Knowledge of various programming languages (e.g. SQL, VB.Net, C#, Java, Python, etc.);
- Proficient keyboarding/data entry skills;
- Strong problem-solving skills and prioritization skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to work independently or with limited supervision.
