Description

Fortis Mining, Manufacturing, and Engineering is currently seeking applicants for the position of CAD/CAM Technologist to work as part of the Engineering & Drafting team.  This is a Temporary position with an estimated duration of One (1) Year.
This position will provide technical support and services to both internal and external clients, collaborating with Fortis Divisions, to complete designs, detail drawings and General Arrangement drawings required in support of the project.   Reporting directly to the Engineering & Drafting Manager, the successful applicant will exercise discretion and common sense when conducting research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems related to the project.
Responsibilities:
To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Prepare engineering designs, drawings and related technical information including drafting and 3D modeling using Solid Works and AutoCAD
Assist with the design and development of components, in collaboration with the project team, including:
o General Arrangements and equipment layouts
o Mechanical equipment and component design and detail shop drawings
Collaborate with all parties to troubleshoot, resolve issues and discuss alternative designs
Engineering document management to company standards
Engineering document quality control
Proactively manage time to ensure efficient use of time billed to projects
Apply critical thinking / common-sense techniques when drafting and designing in order to identify possible solutions for projects
Requirements:
Proficient in AutoCAD and Solidworks
Graduate of recognized CAD/CAM or Mechanical Engineering Technology course
1-5 year of industry experience, preferably in the mining, heavy industrial, or manufacturing industries
Ability to work well in a team environment
An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered.
