Discovery Co-op invites applications for the position of Food Store Manager to join our team at our Battleford Food Store Department located in Battleford, SK.

Reporting to the Food Division Manager, The Food Store Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing a retail food store, including bakery, deli, meat, produce, and grocery. This includes providing legendary guest service focused on safety, courtesy, service and efficiency to our guests. Their role consists of recruitment, training, supervisor and performance management, safety, maintaining image and standards, budgeting and achieving financial goals.


Qualifications

Education:
    Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent
    Food Safe Handling Certificate would be an asset
    Centre Store Advance (previously called Grocery Advance) required within 6 months of hire date
    Business diploma or certificate would be an asset
Skills:
    Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
    Strong managerial and supervisory skills
Knowledge of commodity sales, gross margin and inventory management
Experience:
    Two years of retail managerial experience preferred
    Experience a grocery retail setting is an asset
    Co-operative retail experience is an asset

Working conditions

Working mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends, available for calls after hours and for emergencies, working with a team, working with computers, managing tight deadlines, and working with challenging guests at times. Intermittent travel required.

Physical requirements
Standing for extended periods of time and regular heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
