Job Description: The Pediatric Palliative/Complex Care RN (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The RN (NP) practices within a framework of evidence-based practice, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. The practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families, and communities. This includes; supporting inter-professional collaboration; and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) as an RN (NP)
Level C, Basic Cardiac Life Support and/or PAALS Certified
Experience
Three (3), full-time years experience as a Registered Nurse required
Two (2) full-time years recent experience working in a paediatric area with children who have palliative, psychological and/or complex care needs required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of leadership strategies in order to lead, encourage, advise and cooperate with colleagues to promote and maintain positive relationships, to achieve patient/resident/client team and organizational goals within available resources.
Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques
Knowledge of end of life care and strategies for pediatric patients and their families
