Gabriel Dumont Institute Training & Employment (GDI T&E) is currently looking to fill (2) Apprentice Welder positions which have been made available with one of our employer partners.
GDI T&E partners with employers across Saskatchewan willing to hire and train Aboriginal apprentices (Metis, First Nations, Non-Status, Inuit) through our Aboriginal Apprenticeship Project.
Description:
- Identify and weld different types of metals and steel. Work independently or in a team environment. Read and interpret fabrication drawings and produce rough sketches.
- Operate job related equipment (cut off saw, iron worker, hydraulic presses, shears, torches, pneumatic/power actuated tools, and plasma cutters) Fabricate and weld both small and large fabrications.
- Handle,transport, and process product and materials using equipment. Inspect raw materials and finished product to meet specifications.
- Operate and inspect material handling equipment, light mobile equipment and assist with the maintenance or repair of equipment.
- Fir and assemble simple as well as complex assemblies. Good housekeeping practices at all times, to help maintain safe work areas for yourself and your co-workers.
- Able to do all types of layouts and able to familiarize with CWB standards.
- Identify weld symbols, weld with SMAW, GMAW, FCAW
- Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be Aboriginal to qualify (Metis, First Nations, Non-Status, Inuit)
- Must reside in Saskatchewan
