Description

The Sr Corporate Tax Manager will collaborate with the Canadian, US and International Tax teams as well as other teams within the organization including Finance, Treasury, Legal and Operations; also required to liaise with external consultants and advisors.

Core Responsibilities:
Oversee timely and accurate completion of Canadian income tax filings
Research technical issues regarding corporate income and commodity tax matters
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax provisions and working papers as required
Gather data and draft responses to Canada Revenue Agency audit queries; coordinate meetings regarding audit issues; review and manage audit proposals and results
Authorize Canadian tax payments and tax department expenditures within corporate expenditure authorization policy guidelines
Coordinate Canadian tax matters with other appropriate company departments, including Legal, Accounting, Treasury, and Operations as well as with external consultants and advisors
Leadership and supervision of two tax positions
Maintain knowledge with respect to technical tax issues and accounting standards
Compliance with company standards, policies, controls, and procedures pertaining to appropriate conduct for employees
Characteristics for Successful Performance:

Ability to take initiative in problem solving
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ongoing maintenance of technical skills; ability to liaise with tax professionals and consultants to gain and share knowledge
Qualifications:
CPA or other professional accounting designation
Completion of CPA Canada in-depth tax course
Experience in resource taxation, manufacturing, foreign affiliate issues and international tax planning
Experience in income tax accounting
Minimum of 10 years of income tax experience and four years of leadership experience
