Successful applicants will be willing to work various shifts and to perform other tasks beyond operating heavy equipment as required. Successful candidate should have experience in the operation of heavy equipment - preferably as part of a road construction team. Experience on more than one piece of equipment is preferred, examples being grader, backhoe, trackhoe, dozer, scraper, loader, tractor. A 1A license would be an asset. Operator will be expected to follow the existing procedures and practices in place and will be welcome to provide recommendations to management. The applicant should be familiar with operating equipment and tools in a safe manner, and be willing to ensure compliance with Saskatchewan legislation in this area. The operator will be expected to keep their equipment clean, to conduct pre-operational checks of their equipment, to perform minor maintenance on the equipment and to inform supervisor of any major mechanical concerns. The applicant will be required to take ongoing training, participate in tailgate meetings and regular staff meetings. The applicant should be willing to represent the municipality in a respectful manner, maintain good working relationships with other staff members, and promote a healthy and happy workplace.
Municipal shop is located in the Hamlet of Hillmond. Workers will require their own transportion to Hillmond for each shift. Shifts will start and finish at the Hillmond shop.
