Description

Job Summary:

The Safety Program Manager is responsible for administering and improving WCBs internal safety management system.  Partnering with WCBs leaders, she/he facilitates continuous health and safety improvements, regulatory compliance and the development of safe work behaviors and competencies to ensure the elimination of all workplace injuries.  

With a continuous improvement mindset, the Safety Program Manager excels in partnering with all safety leaders including Managers, Union, Occupational Health & Safety Committee members, and Safety Wardens to create and sustain a safety culture that effectively identifies and takes appropriate actions to promote wellness and to prevent all forms of workplace injury (physical and psychological).



Qualification Requirements as per Job Evaluation:

In addition to the following Behavioral & Technical Qualifications (Competencies) the following Education, Experience, Designations/Licenses are job requirements:

    Bachelors degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
    Minimum of five years of experience in health and safety preferably in a unionized continuous improvement environment.
        Designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSE), or equivalent, is also preferred.  
    Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge, skill and competence, may be considered.

Must have a valid drivers license and be able to travel.
