Our well-established firm employs three lawyers and four support staff and has operated since 2001. We practice throughout west-central Saskatchewan in many legal areas.
THIS POSITION IS A TEMPORARY, FULL-TIME MATERNITY BACKFILL FOR A TERM OF ONE YEAR, FROM APRIL 12TH, 2019 TO APRIL 12TH, 2020. There is a possibility of casual employment in the month leading up to the start date for training (1-2 days per week in March). The position may also be extended into long-term after December 2019.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare legal documents, letters, and other communication as directed by lawyers to a high standard.
- Monitor and schedule court dates and other appointments for lawyers.
- Transcribe from dictation.
- Maintain filing systems, diarize dates, monitor files, and regularly send bills to clients.
- Answer the phone, direct / respond to client communication, and deal with people who walk in.
- Aid clients with questions related to files.
- May request some light cleaning duties.
Skills required:
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and other office equipment.
- A tactful, friendly, and empathetic approach to others.
- Excellent spelling, grammar, proof-reading skills, and oral communication.
- Professional and ethical conduct in the workplace.
- An absolute commitment to client confidentiality and privacy.
- Ability to prioritize, meet tight deadlines, schedule, multi-task, and effectively use time without close supervision.
- Knowledge of ESILaw (legal billing/filing software) or other law firm software is an asset, but not essential. We can provide training.
Qualifications:
- Previous administrative experience of 1-2 years is desired.
- Post-secondary education in clerical or administrative work is an asset.
- Experience in real estate conveyancing, corporate returns, or a law firm environment is an asset.
