Part Time Employment Opportunity
Position: Rockglen Playgroup Instructor

The Rockglen Playgroup  is currently seeking an applicant for Playgroup Instructor. We are looking for an instructor to prepare small children for kindergarten by easing them into organized education. You will teach them important elements that they will encounter soon after they enter school life. The Playgroup instructor must have a great love and patience for children.
The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.
Hours:  Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9 am -12 pm. March- June

Start Date: March 4, 2019

The candidate we are seeking should have the following strengths:
    responsible,
    enthusiastic,
    experience working with children, specifically preschool children  
    strong interpersonal skills, and
    strong organizational skills.
    Willingness to learn
    Self motivated

Responsibilities
    Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
    Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, songs etc.) to teach children
    Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
    Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
     Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
    Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)

Qualifications
    Post secondary education Early Childhood or other related field is an asset but not required
    Knowledge of child development & child behavior management
    First Aid and CPR training
    Community Development experience
    Experience working with families and/or children
    Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable sector check

 - Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
 - Plan and develop child care and nursery school programs

 - Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers
 - Order supplies and equipment
 - Assist in maintaining records of children
Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills
 - Prepare and serve snacks
Experience With Children Who Have Special Needs
 - Children with behavioural issues
Ability to Supervise
 - 16-20 people
Security and Safety
 - Criminal record check (abstract)
 - Child abuse registry check
 - Driver's validity licence check
