At the Saskatchewan Foster Families Association, one of our main objectives is to support foster families and caregivers in directly caring for children/youth through our In Home Support Program.
We are seeking experienced childcare support staff that have extensive background in dealing with hard to manage behaviors and are committed to working as part of our team approach in resident stabilization.
The required skills and abilities of the successful candidate are:
Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
Able to follow a consistent support plan as directed by the house supervisor
Ability to work under pressure and respond appropriately in crisis situations
Able to build relationships and develop trust with both employees and residents
Develop recreation plans for residents to promote mental and physical health
Adaptability; Must be proactive in assessing triggers to effectively redirect from potential crisis situations
Be respectful in all verbal and written communication with residents and co-workers
These skills must be complimented with a combination of experience and education as listed below:
Minimum 2 years of experience working with high behavioral children
Diploma in Youth Care, Continuing Care Aid or Educational Assistant and/or a combination of experience may be considered
Valid CPR/First Aid Certification (*must be completed within 30 days of employment)
Crisis Intervention Training is considered an asset
Must hold a valid class 5 drivers license, clear driving abstract and reliable vehicle
