Job Description: THE GERIATRIC SERVICES PROGRAM REGISTERED NURSE IS A COMPETENT CLINICAL PRACTITIONER ASSISTING INDIVIDUALS, GROUPS AND FAMILIES WITH HEALTH-CARE NEEDS RANGING FROM UNCOMPLICATED TO COMPLEX AND RAPIDLY CHANGING STATUS.  AS A PROFESSIONAL THE GERIATRIC SERVICES PROGRAM NURSE DEMONSTRATES A CARING APPROACH WHICH REFLECTS AND INCORPORATES GERIATRIC EXPERTISE.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Experience
1.  Minimum of five (5) years recent acute care experience is required, three (3) of which must be in caring for older adults with complex medical issues.

2.  CNA Gerintological certification preferred.

NOTE: This is a Provincial Posting and is open to all SUN members within the bargaining unit as per Articles 27.02 and 27.05 of the SUN Collective Bargaining Agreement. First preference will be given to employees of the SKHA (Saskatoon) and its affiliated agencies.

It will be desirable if you possess a knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques involved in performing nursing services relating to the care of patients in the geriatric outpatients, which would include knowledge of the fundamentals of assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, re-motivation, re-orientation, and validation therapy of frail elders with multidimensional needs.
