Description

Our client, a boutique Saskatchewan based commodities trading company, is looking for a qualified Financial Controller to handle the financial operations of their business.
Responsibilities:
-Management of accounting operations including financial statement preparation, management reporting, accounts payable/receivable review
-Maintaining the accounting system and internal controls
-Researching and recommending best practices processes to improve operational efficiencies
-Variances analysis and investigation
-Coordinates annual audit/review to ensure accounting records follow GAAP and government regulations
-Knowledge of the agricultural commodities business an asset
-Experience in evaluating customer credit risk
-Cash management: directing fund transfers, reviewing and approving transfer requests, opening new bank accounts, setting up trading accounts, upkeep of administrative requirements for all bank accounts.
-Financing: assist with management of corporate credit facilities
-Credit: assist with management of credit insurance policy and related operations and assist with reporting and controls on trade credit.
-Staff Management: manage one Accountant.
-General: work with team members on various special projects in support of the continued growth of the company.
-Willing and able to support/step in and work through any financial task within the Company
Key qualifications:
-CPA designation
-7+ years advanced accounting experience
-Has hands-on experience preparing quality financial statements
-Experience dealing with banks, including monthly borrowing base reporting and annual renewals
-Comfortable with tax, including international transfer pricing
-Understanding of foreign exchange derivative instruments (futures, forwards, options) and related accounting issues
-Compelling analytical- thinking/problem-solving skills
-Strong Excel aptitude
-Excellent communication/presentation skills
