The suitable candidate will have knowledge and abilities of the following:
Assesses and documents the elders requirement for subsidy.
Verifies occupancy for Elders and ensure all utilities are paid and are being provided without interruption.
Assist eligible Elders in completing application form for subsidy.
Acts as a Liaison for Elders subsidy program.
Confers with families in regarding interests, needs, and limitations, as well as the availability of resources. Assures that all activities conform to the criteria of federal, state, and Band requirements.
Coordinates programs with other departments of the Nation and interfaces with all appropriate Nation components.
Plans, implements and documents of elder program, as needed.
Reports on a regular basis to immediate supervisor.
Identifies available resources for Elders.
Attends conferences and other appropriate meetings as necessary
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Three (3) years - experience in community / social services.
Understanding of Cree culture and community-based services.
Skills in communicating with Elders.
Ability to deal with public with special focus on Elders.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local programs for Elders, desirable.
Must be able to speak / understand Cree language.
Must possess valid Class 5 driver's license and be insurable.
Must have satisfactory current Criminal Record Check and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
Must have satisfactory Driver's abstract.
Preferably own a vehicle.
Must be capable of handling confidential information.
