Description

SaskTel is on the lookout for a Technical Support Engineer to support OTT and IPTV multi-vendor media platform services.  The successful candidate will possess IP networking skills, analytics knowledge and scripting techniques are seen as an asset.  

POSITION OVERVIEW

Accountable for the technical support, design and deployment of stored program control digital communication systems, and switched base services and features.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide front line technical assistance to all SaskTel user groups impacting the performance of the digital switching and cellular networks.  Responsibilities include supporting interface problems that arise in analog switches, sub-systems or related network equipment.
2. Co-ordinate and assist with the insertion of digital switch software upgrades.  Recommend appropriate software and data requirements to ensure proper funtionality and performance of the switching network.
3. Interface with equipment suppliers on technical problem referrals and issues impacting the performance of the digital switching network.
4. Provide recommendations and assistance by inroducing and implementing new technologies and services. Assist user groups involved with the modernization of SaskTel's switching network.
5. Represent SaskTel on national committees and by attending conferences in order to enhance and refine the performance of the digital switching network.
6. Participates on assigned SaskTel International ventures.
7. Co-ordinate the implementation of new technologies and services as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. University Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering and be qualified to register as a Professional Engineer.
2. Experience in stored program control digital communications systems preferred.
3. Experience with computer based systems.
