Description

Acadia Construction is now recruiting for the upcoming Spring start up.
The successful candidate for the Water and Sewer Labourer position will perform various duties within Acadias Water and Sewer crew to construct, maintain and repair water and sewer infrastructure as assigned, and would be responsible to perform any of the following activities:
    Shovel and operate a jumping jack.
    Assist heavy equipment operators, perform spotting of trucks and other heavy equipment.
    Perform duties of a flag person directing heavy equipment
    Use various construction tools to assist the crew in pipe-laying, manhole installation, etc.  
    Assist the Water and Sewer Foreman with daily site activities, and other related duties as required.

Skills & Knowledge
    Minimum 1 years experience in water and sewer construction and repair activities.
    Ability to cooperate with colleagues as a team, and to understand and follow instructions.
    Knowledge of safety rules, instructions and policies, workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.

Requirements
    Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License.
    Ability to exert frequent high physical effort (e.g. shoveling, aligning pipes, lifting manhole covers, climbing in and out of ditches) and to work in fatiguing positions (e.g. considerable standing and bending).
    Ability to work outside in all types of weather, in underground excavations, confined spaces, etc., and in conditions which may be noisy, dirty, wet (e.g. sewer lines).
    Completion of Safety and First Aid courses would be an asset.
    Must arrive at work Fit for Duty as required.
    May be required to take a drug and alcohol test.
