Description

Responsible for operating a variety of equipment which may include:  Excavator, Backhoe, Loader, Bulldozer, Front End Loader, Sid Steer, Roller, etc.  
The Water and Sewer Excavator Operator would also be responsible to use heavy equipment to perform a variety of tasks which may include:  Excavation, Sub-Grade Excavation, Fine Grading and Finishing, Landscaping, Sloping and Banking, Back-filling, Ditching, Rough Grading, Stumping, Trenching, Material Handling, Slope Grooming, Snow Removal, etc.

Responsibilities
Operate equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury or property damage.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
Clean heavy equipment as required.
Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
Advise mechanics of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
Routine Maintenance.
Complete and maintain daily operating & safety records.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Knowledge
Minimum 5 years experience in water and sewer construction and repair activities.
Time management skills.
Ability to cooperate with colleagues as a team, and to understand and follow instructions.
Knowledge of safety rules, instructions and policies, workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.

Requirements
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License.
Ability to exert frequent high physical effort (e.g. shoveling, aligning pipes, lifting manhole covers, climbing in and out of ditches) and to work in fatiguing positions (e.g. considerable standing and bending).
Completion of Safety and First Aid courses would be an asset.
Must arrive at work Fit for Duty as required.
May be required to take a drug and alcohol test.
