Description

Under the overall general direction of the Works and Utilities Manager or designate; employees in this position are responsible for the operations to deliver safe potable drinking water as well as operations of all wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities for the City of Humboldt.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment procedures, operations and general practices applied to the care and safe operation of facility equipment.
Knowledge of methods, chemicals, materials and tools used in water and wastewater treatment.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Good decision making abilities and organizational skills
Good writing and record keeping skills
Ability to make minor repairs to water and wastewater plant equipment
Ability to record meter readings and make simple arithmetic calculations accurately
Ability to work with hazardous chemicals (e.g. Chlorine, Ferric Sulphate)
Ability to remain calm during emergency situations
Ability to supervise and train subordinate staff and assume responsibility of a shift
Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and the public.
Working knowledge of computer software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet and database applications)
Physical ability to perform the assigned duties
Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.

A Criminal Record Check will be requested as a condition of employment. Living within 15km of Humboldt is considered an asset in order to respond effectively to emergency situations. Holding a class 3A drivers license is also considered an asset for driving tandem trucks when needed.

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
 - Water Distribution Certificate (Levels I, II or III)
 - Water Treatment Certificate (Levels I, II or III)
 - Class V Driver's License
