Description

The City of Humboldt is currently seeking full-time skilled labourer in the Works and Utilities Department.

Overview:
Under the overall general direction of the Works and Utilities Manager or designate; the employee in this position will be responsible for carrying out general duties for the City of Humboldt in a safe and effective manner.
Skilled labourers shall be able to operate the Citys basic equipment and tools; participate in water and sewer excavations; road construction and repair activities, and all other general duties assigned.
The wage rate for this position is $23.01/hr (2019 rates). Rates are in accordance with the Citys agreement with CUPE Local No. 2359.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to operate basic equipment and knowledge of routine maintenance procedures.
Skills in basic carpentry, mechanical principles.
Ability to work in enclosed spaces.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
Knowledge of proper handling techniques for chemicals used in utility operations.
Good decision making abilities.
Ability to remain calm during emergency situations.
Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and the public.
Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
