Description

The Autism Resource Centre has an exciting opportunity for those looking to work in a fun, educational summer camp environment. We are currently looking for Camp Staff for our Camp Connect run in partnership with the Globe Theater. This camp is for youth on the autism spectrum aged 13-18 and offers the opportunity to learn social skills, communication skills, life skills and Improv acting.

Roles & Requirements:
-Facilitate positive programming for teens with an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis
-Work as a mentor while building relationships with the campers
-Assist individuals to gain and maintain valuable social skills throughout the summer
-Encourage individuals to practice the skills learned each day in the community with peers
-Adhere to the confidentiality contract
-Ensure camper safety at all times
-Programming includes swimming with individuals on a regular basis
-Complete written communication notes daily
-Communicating with campers families daily
-Assist with group set-up, and attend all pre-group training and all team meetings
-Work in collaboration with the Directors to support each individual in the camp
-Daily clean up as required
-Working towards or completion of a University/college education in a related field (e.g. social work, psychology, education, kinesiology, behavioural sciences)
-Must have an interest in and knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder
-Adaptable and energetic personalities are a minimum requirement; you possess excellent communication skills & work effectively in a team
-Must be available to work Monday to Friday from 8:45AM-3:15PM from July 8-August 16 inclusive
-Must attend mandatory staff training on July 3-6 from 9:00AM-3:00PM
-A vehicle is an asset to this position
-Third party liability insurance is required for workers driving in the program (staff are reimbursed $0.41/km for driving)  
-A Criminal Record Check is required
