Summer Student Position (Must be returning to full- time studies in
the Fall)
The Education Assistant works to run the educational activities,programs, projects and special events of the Museum.
Duties can include, but are not limited to:
1) Facilitate educational programs including but not limited to conducting tours, hands on activities and day camps to diverse groups of all ages.
2) Prepare research materials and hands-on activities for educational tours and events.
3) Design, organize, plan and run educational activities including day camps.
4) Create a Saskatchewan curriculum guide binder that includes programming and activities.
5) Represent the Museum at events, this may include speaking to the media and the public about the Museum and its programming.
6) General cleaning and maintenance of artifacts, Museum and grounds.
7) Answering emails, phones, taking bookings and serving as a public liaison.
Qualifications:
Required:
1) Good written and verbal communication skills.
2) Able to work with the public of all ages and backgrounds.
3) Prior experience working with large groups of children (10-20 individuals).
4) Prior experience running craft activities and games.
5) Knowledge of, and training in, the Saskatchewan education system and curriculum.
6) Ability to perform physical tasks.
7) Able to work independently.
Desired:
1) Prior experience working in an educational institution, museum, art gallery or library.
2) Prior experience teaching children or running day camps.
3) Experience with event planning and marketing.
4) Experience compiling information.
6) Post-Secondary courses completed in: Education, Museum Education,
Visual Arts, Library Sciences and/or related field.
The Museum is open 7 days per week, due to this and special events, some weekend and evening work will be required.
This position is dependent on successful funding from granting authorities.
