Description

Gabriel Housing Corporation of Regina (1981) provides safe and affordable housing to the Metis community of Regina. Our portfolio of 366 units provides family units, senior units, apartments, four-plexes, and duplexes. Gabriel Housing Corporation ensures our units are well maintained and healthy for our tenants.

DUTIES:
-Landscaping such as, installing or resetting sidewalk blocks, leveling and unloading dirt/ sand, installing lawn, removing and trimming trees
-Removing garbage from houses and unloading at city landfill
-Repairing/replacing fences
-Interior/exterior painting
-Hauling, replacing and discarding appliances (stoves and fridges, etc.)
-Operate lawnmowers, hedge clippers, air compressors, water pressure gun, gas power augers, and saws
-Conduct small repairs such as replacing door hinges, window cranks, replace broken doors, and repair handrails.

REQUIREMENTS:
The student in this position would need some handyman skills in order to conduct minor repairs. Also, must meet the physical demands of the position. The Maintenance Assistant will gain valuable skills and experience in the trades sector. The position would work 40-hour week starting at 8:00 am to 4:45 pm Monday to Friday, Is full time for the summer.

The successful applicant must be eligible as per the Canada Summer Jobs grant guidelines:
-between 15-30 years of age at the start of employment
-a Canadian citizen  

Preference will be given to qualified applicants of Aboriginal ancestry who self-identify.
