Description

Responsibilities include:  
    Demonstrate a commitment to Safety and Environmental stewardship
    Develop and apply working knowledge of the process data systems (data historian, SQL/Access and visualization tools)
    Timely delivery of mill metallurgical accounting and performance reporting
    Review and update of Mill Sampling and Operating Guidelines
    Work within and support the Management of Change process
    Support commissioning of new equipment/systems
    Applying investigative and continuous improvement principles
    Provide technical support/context to all departments
    Conduct metallurgical test work

ADDITIONAL FOR SR METALLURGIST:
    Provide direct supervision of Metallurgical Technician and ownership of the Metallurgical Lab
    Mentor to the Metallurgy team
    Provide point of contact for senior level communications related to daily activities
    Fill in as primary department representative when needed
    Help co-ordinate activities, information, materials or resources within the team
    Ensure cross-checks are completed
    Review reports and trends of mill performance for improvement
    Attend operational and leadership meetings, ensure consistent message heard across both shifts
    Assist with planning, scheduling and coordination of Metallurgy personnel and resources
    Provide input to the annual budgeting process, including identification of training which aligns with group objectives and personal development goals
    Work with the Metallurgy team to identify, plan, administer and document plant trials and metallurgical test work
    Other duties as assigned by Assistant Technical Superintendent

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
    Bachelor or Masters degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering and eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGS
    Minimum 8 years industry experience, preferably within both operational and engineering environments
