Description

Doepker Industries Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of highway semi-trailers in Canada.

We are currently recruiting for a R&D/Product Development Team Leader. Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering this position is responsible to effectively develop, coordinate, schedule and execute new product development projects.  

Key accountabilities include:
Assuring R&D functions are consistent with recognized professional and legal standards, as well as the mission and standards of the Company;
Coordinating the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SRED) program and supporting Engineering staff in identifying and administrating other government research and development programs;
Serving as Project Manager to coordinate resources, cost projects, develop GANTT charts, maintain project timelines and communicate progress with various departments as required;  
Participation in design reviews of new products, jigs and fixtures.
Continuous improvement of production processes and in-house testing of pre-production prototypes, as well as the manufacture of specialized equipment;
Developing and maintaining effective relations between the R&D department and all other personnel and departments in the Company.

Required Qualifications:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology and/or 5+ years mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment;
A Bachelor of Mechanical or Industrial Engineering would be a definite asset.
Certification and/or training in project management, computerized mechanical design systems, research and development, and business administration would be considered assets.
Training and experience in LEAN manufacturing.
