Key responsibilities:
Providing efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to structural design problems in a multidiscipline project environment
Performing computer-aided modeling and analysis of steel and concrete structures
Developing technical specifications
Preparing quantity take-offs and developing project scopes, engineering and capital cost estimates
Review of analysis and design prepared by junior engineers and designers
Inspections of existing structures on site
Site walkdowns, gathering of relevant information, structural analysis and design, seismic design and evaluation, as well as communication with all project team members and other stakeholders
Maintaining technical knowledge to ensure appropriate technologies and codes are incorporated into designs with cost-effective design techniques
Review of vendor documents and shop drawings
Supervision junior designers and engineers-in-training
Structural design lead on Projects
Travel within the province
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural design
Minimum 5 years of project engineering experience working directly in the field of structural engineering
Registered, or eligible to be registered, as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan
Experience in structural analysis and design of mining and potash processing plants or similar heavy industrial facilities
Strong hands-on working knowledge and experience with structural engineering analysis software, preferably StaadPro and SAP2000
Experience with 3D CAD modeling software
In-depth knowledge and experience using Canadian codes and standards for heavy industrial structures
Aptitude for working in multi-disciplinary teams as well as interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients and vendors
Some experience and understanding of advanced engineering finite element analysis software like Ansys.
