The Youth Camps Coordinator follows the Saskatchewan Science Centre mandate to ignite scientific curiosity and innovation in Saskatchewan communities through interactive, dynamic and engaging opportunities. The Coordinator is responsible for all youth camps that occur at the Saskatchewan Science Centre. The Coordinator trains staff on programs related to the role and continually improves staff knowledge as well as continued growth of programs including innovations and improvements.
1.Coordinating all youth camp activities, including:
Schools out Day Camps
Develop and lead STEAM related content for youth ages 6-11
Science Themed Camps-Ins
Coordinate, supervise and lead youth Camp-in programs
2. Special Events
Assist in the organization of special events including the preparation for event activities and programs. Special events include, themed months and special event days (Ex. Earth Month, Spooky Science Month, Noon Years Eve etc.)
3.Program Assistance
Assist other Coordinators in the development and facilitation of other programs at the Saskatchewan Science Centre. This includes but is not limited to school programming, stage shows and other programming related activities.
4. Training and supervision
The Coordinator will train and supervise part time Science Educator and Science Explorers in the delivery of related educational programs.
5. Mentoring
Act as a mentor for all staff members by encouraging learning and science discovery. As well as to uphold and encourage the discovery and innovation in STEAM related areas to staff and members of the public.
6. Interact on the exhibit floor
Engaging visitors with the exhibits and communicating science materials and current science events. In addition, testing activities for youth camps, leading makerspace activities, and supervision of youth camp participants.
