Description

Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Home Visiting Supervisor, Program Manager and/or Assistant Home Visiting Supervisor, the Home Visitor will provide ongoing intensive support services, primarily through home visits, to assigned families and/or pregnant women.

Detailed Job Duties:
-Establish trusting relationships with assigned families.
-Encourage healthy lifestyle changes.
-Promote & recruit families/prenatal women to the KidsFirst Program.
-Link families to other community supports and services.
-Strengthen parent-child relationships.
-Provide practical support that enables families to meet their goals.
-Transport families to appointments when necessary.
-Help parents to develop a variety of skills including but not limited to, parenting, problem solving and life skills.
-Assist families in dealing with circumstances that place them and their children at risk.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge and awareness of cultural values and practices within the community.
-Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
-Awareness of challenges common to high risk families.
-Positive Attitude.
-Demonstrated ability to relate to families undergoing a high degree of stress and to make referrals to KidsFirst Family Counselor.
-Ability to handle high stress and emotionally demanding work environments.
-Valid drivers license and use of your own insured vehicle.
-Ability to work flexible hours.
-Experience working with children and families is an asset.
