Description

Teach and assist students in development of skills in carpentry, safety, small home repair and basic home construction.
Prepare plans for selected carpentry CNYC projects, small home repair and construction workshops.
Enforce safe practices and maintain a safe and supervised environment in the woodshop.
Maintain a clean and organized woodshop.  
Work with youth on general job skills such as attendance, punctuality and attitude.
Evaluate youth skill level and personal growth, keeping appropriate records.
Select and purchase supplies/instructional materials within pre-established budgets.
Track use of supplies by making note of the purpose on purchase receipts and providing an annual inventory count.
Accept payment and provide invoices & receipts for sales of carpentry products.
Facilitate carpentry & basic home repair / construction workshops for youth and CNYC Membership as required.
Assist with general tasks at CNYC and with maintaining a safe and supervised environment in the CNYC building.
Assist with building maintenance and repairs.
Demonstrate professional ethics and conform to CNYC policies.
Scheduled hours may vary and may include evening shifts.
Other duties as assigned by ED.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Woodworking, carpentry and basic home repair & construction experience
2. Experience working with youth.
3. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with youth, staff and partners.
4. Problem solving skills & good communication skills
5. Excellent phone and computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel
6. Must have own vehicle, clean drivers abstract and clean criminal record check
7. First Aid & WHMIS would be an asset
