The Audit Services Unit of the Ministry of Justice is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and highly skilled audit professional to support the execution of the risk based audit plan. This includes the development of individual audit engagement plans, risk assessments, audit programs as well as completing assigned audit tasks.
Reporting to the Manager, Audit Services, this position will also be responsible for documentation of key audit findings and preparation of draft audit reports. The position may be requested to assist in the completion of special audit projects or reviews as necessary. Overnight travel may be required rarely.
The successful candidate must demonstrate proven interpersonal skills and knowledge of auditing practices, standards and procedures. The incumbent must be able to work independently and cooperatively with others in a team environment to establish, build and maintain positive working relationships and to ensure deadlines, goals and objectives are met. In addition, the incumbent must have proven work experience assessing internal controls, and compliance with established policies, procedures, guidelines, agreements and/or legislation.
Knowledge and abilities required for this position will typically be gained through a professional accounting and/or auditing designation (CPA, CIA) and a degree in commerce or business administration, along with several years of auditing experience. A solid understanding of internal audit principles and a demonstrated ability to link key risk exposures to audit work performed is necessary in this role. Working knowledge of ACL software is considered an asset.
