St. Thomas More College (STM), the Catholic college federated with the University of Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Director of Mission and Ministry and committed to carrying out the mission and vision of the College, the Campus Minister fosters Catholic Christian community and the integration of faith and learning in a liberal arts college where over half of the student body are women.
The qualified candidate will adhere to the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards as set out by Canadian Catholic Campus Ministry as well as the Covenant of Care of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon.
Working in full communion with the Catholic Church, and as part of a collaborative team, the Campus Minister will provide a comprehensive campus ministry program to students, staff and faculty associated with STM, STMs Catholic Worshipping Community, and the wider university. She/he will build cooperative working relationships with STM student groups, faculty, staff, and the Catholic community. This Campus Minister will be sensitive to the distinct needs of women students, faculty, and staff, and will respond appropriately to individuals who have experienced gender-based violence/trauma.
Qualifications/Requirements of the position: Possessing excellent communication skills, the successful candidate will have a Masters degree in theology, pastoral ministry, religious education, or equivalent, and demonstrated experience in pastoral ministry that includes spiritual mentoring and/or pastoral counseling. An understanding of the particular experiences faced by women students is essential. This position requires the ability to work as part of a team and a clear commitment to the Catholic tradition highlighting the teaching and spirit of the Second Vatican Council. Preference will be given to those candidates with expertise in liturgy and sacred music, womens issues, social justice and catechesis.
