The Outreach Advocate works under the general direction of the Operations Manager and works closely in conjunction with the childrens support worker, Domestic Violence Counselor, and the Family Support Worker to advocate and provide follow-up supports for women to connect to community services that address barriers to independence from abusive relationships. The Outreach Advocate helps post shelter clients build capacity in their lives through empowerment and continued evaluation of their goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, develop, implement and evaluate culturally diverse programming to meet client need, including topics teaching life skills, physical and mental health wellness, and safety planning.
Facilitate outreach program activities, group facilitation, coordination of guest speakers and calendar of events
Develop and maintain community partnerships with agencies and services that address non-violence. Collaborate with other agencies in response to womens needs.
Assist clients upon departure from shelter. Follow up with referrals that were made in shelter for clients.
Provide follow up through regular contact to client base. Through a variety of electronic methods of contact as well as face to face time.
Makes new referrals to outside agencies (ex: bed referrals)
Advocate for women and children based on needs and goal planning ( medical, legal, housing retention, transportation, food security, education)
