The Electrical Controls Engineer/Technologist creates designs, writes technical specifications, writes PLC programs, troubleshoots electrical systems and performs pre-delivery/post-delivery acceptance testing for new or existing equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
-Lead development of control systems for new or upgraded equipment
-Maintain expert level of product & application knowledge
-Provide integration of & develop the design & programming of systems
-Provide design & specification development support
-Train field service staff for start-up & commissioning
-Assist in the design & development of new products & tools
-Manage the technical departmental documentation according to procedures
-Create accurate electrical designs for drawings using Autodesk products
-Assist Electrical & Mechanical Design Engineers in the design of the equipment
-Field Commissioning & troubleshooting of our E&C systems
Education
-Electrical Engineering Degree or Technology Diploma
Qualifications Considered an Asset:
-Understand the operation of underground mining machines
-Experience in Explosion Proof Electrical designs
-Knowledge of MSHA requirements, CSA Code & Mining regulations
-Background or interests in mobile machine electrical & PLC control systems
-Experience working in an Autodesk environment
-Medium voltage power system design
-Panel Layouts & interconnections
-Experience with ERP systems
-Variable Freq Drives
-4160V & 600V motor control & protection
-PLC systems programming capability - AB, Siemens, GE
-PLC HMI systems AB & Siemens
-PLC communication protocols
-CanBUS systems design
-Programming in: structured text, ladder logic, function block
