The Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment is seeking a Logistics Technician for the Inventory Unit of Wildfire Management Branch located in Prince Albert.
Reporting to the Unit Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for the logistics functions in the acquisition, storage, warehousing, packaging, shipping and retrieval of fire equipment and the delivery of fire equipment and other supplies. The successful applicant will coordinate procurement and delivery of fire suppression goods and services to Forest Protection Areas Firebases and Air Operations Tanker Bases. This position will also develop procedures and guidelines related to inventory control or other duties within the position. This position will periodically require travel to remote locations and work irregular hours during peak forest fire activity. The successful candidate must be able to physically perform tasks such as moving, lifting and loading supplies and equipment from vehicles and equipment.
Knowledge of purchasing and inventory control procedures and practices is required. Your ability to apply proper safety practices according to established protocols and safety guidelines to protect self and co-workers is critical to this position. Strong computer skills are required to input, update, edit, retrieve and maintain inventory information. You will be approachable and flexible in dealing with members of the public and your work unit, self-motivated to complete tasks and adaptable to changing work situations and must work well in an environment that recognizes, supports, respects and welcomes diversity of employees and clients.
The successful candidate must hold a valid Class 5 drivers license. Experience with a forklift would be an asset.
