Description

The Community Outreach Assistant helps bring library programs and services out into Chinook Regional Librarys Rural Branches within southwest Saskatchewan, and assists with library programming for seniors and children. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person who can inspire people to be lifelong library users. This position is based out of Swift Current with day trips to rural branch libraries with another staff member.
Duties:
Assisting in planning and facilitating library programming and events in our rural library branches.
Assisting with TD Summer Reading Club
Working with Chinook Regional Library management and staff to promote library events and services in rural communities
Representing the library at local community events
Assisting with or leading childrens programs, recording program attendance, and writing program reports

Qualifications:
Eligible for Canada Summer Jobs program: between 15  30 years of age; legally entitled to work in Saskatchewan
Must have valid drivers license
Strong planning and organizational skills
Strong technology skills
Able to take initiative and to work with minimum supervision
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to respond with tact, politeness and good judgment when working with library users
Understanding and appreciation of the philosophy of public library service to people of different ages and cultural backgrounds
Required to obtain Safe Places Certification which includes online training program, and RCMP Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check.
Evening and weekend shifts may be required.
