Description

The Community Outreach Assistant helps bring library programs and services out into the community, and assists with library programming for seniors and children. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person who can inspire people to be lifelong library users.
Duties:
Leading childrens literacy activities at a local parks program (Families in the Park) once a week
Assisting with Technology Outreach programs to local Seniors care facilities
Assisting with Senior Outreach programs that bring library services to care facilities & home-bound seniors
Representing the library at local community events

Qualifications:
Eligible for Canada Summer Jobs program: between 15  30 years of age; be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident, and legally entitled to work in Saskatchewan
Ideally currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, preferably in the area of Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or in a program related to working with children and community programming
Must have valid drivers license
Must have experience working with children, and be able to lead large groups of children effectively
Strong planning and organizational skills
Strong technology skills
Able to take initiative and to work with minimum supervision
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding and appreciation of the philosophy of public library service to people of different ages and cultural backgrounds
Required to obtain Safe Places Certification which includes online training program, and RCMP Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check.
Evening and weekend shifts may be required.
