Youth Summer Activity Facilitator Regina
Salary: $14.00/hour
Term: 8 weeks
Hrs of work: 35 hours per week
Reporting to the Directors of Social and Judicial Programs, the employee will assist in the development, promotion, and implementation of meaningful and creative youth centered recreational/sport/cultural/artistic activities and outings for youth in JHSS programs.
Duties
Assist in developing life skills programming in the JHSS drop-in space
Provides information and life skills support to clients in the JHSS drop-in space
Provide advocacy services or teaches self-advocacy for clients
Provide day to day problem solving and support
Assist in ensuring that the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the drop-in space are maintained
Assist caseworkers in working with at-risk youth
Provide support for caseworkers in a number of JHSS programs (SILP, LYNC, Residential housing, etc.)
Work with JHSS staff to create fundraising events throughout the summer
Plan and participate in outings with the program youth during the summer months
Perform other duties of a related nature as assigned.
Knowledge
An understanding and commitment to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the John Howard Society.
Some familiarity with the problems and characteristics of disadvantaged persons.
Skills
Good communication, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
Experience working with at risk youth
Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a good working relationship with staff and clients.
Qualifications
Must meet all requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs Program
Must be legally entitled to work in Saskatchewan and able to speak and write English
Preference given to individuals enrolled in a post-secondary program related to the work of John Howard Society
Valid drivers license with clean driving record
Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check
