Description

The Senior Specialist will support the development and implementation of the Tobacco Wise Cessation Services Project (TWCSP) in Saskatchewan. The aim of the project is to create and deliver culturally appropriate and accessible commercial tobacco cessation telephone and online services for First Nations, Inuit, Metis, and urban Indigenous (FN/I/M/uI) populations and reduce commercial tobacco use among FN/I/M/uI populations. Once developed the services will become part of CCSs Smokers Helpline program, www.smokershelpline.ca.  This full-time, three-year contract position will support overall project coordination activities including engagement with FN/I/M/uI communities, program design and content development, promotion of services, evaluation, and resource development, as well as development of external partnerships with provincial, regional and local health care and community organizations. This position will contribute to the health recommendations in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action (2015) calling for the establishment of measurable goals to identify and close the gaps in health outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in consultation with Indigenous peoples.

The Tobacco Wise Cessation Services Project is a project of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and Cancer Care Ontarios Indigenous Cancer Control Unit (ICCU) and is funded by Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC).  The position can be based in any region within Saskatchewan.  Please click on the link for a detailed list of role responsibilities and qualifications, and how to apply for this position.
